Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County is thrilled to announce the remarkable results from our recent Summer Learning Lab program, conducted in partnership with local school districts, including Goshen Community Schools, Elkhart Community Schools, Central Noble Community School Corporation, Concord Community Schools, and Baugo Community Schools.
This summer, 500 students entering grades 1 through 9 participated in the program aimed at enhancing their math and literacy skills while providing enriching experiences to prepare them for a successful school year.
The results are impressive, with an overall increase in English Language Arts proficiency of 15% and a 20% increase in Math.
Dr. Tami Hicks, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County, expressed gratitude, stating, “These types of results wouldn’t have been possible without the 60 dedicated teachers and 30 of our Club staff who devoted their summer to helping these students succeed.”
After engaging in morning learning sessions, students were able to attend one of our Club locations, where they could take part in afternoon field trips and other rewarding experiences to enrich their academic experience. “One of the special things about the Summer Learning Lab was how the morning’s educational component flowed into lunch, nourishing both mind and body,” said Aaron Haack, Area Director for the Elkhart Clubhouse. “Then, students could enjoy Club, a safe, welcoming space where they could relax, have fun, and be themselves.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County remains committed to fostering an environment that supports both academic growth and personal development. We look forward to continuing our efforts to serve the youth in our community.
